FREEDOM SQUARE:

The Freedom Square project is the main focus of In Fact.

Our objective is to offer the community a physical space for new leisure alternatives. We aim is to inspire social change and improve co-existence within the local community through personal growth and the development of the artistic abilities of each individual.

This project has been designed for adolescents with shared experiences of a variety of social and family issues. It will take place within an inclusive environment, in which personal and cultural values will serve as the starting point for development of individuals in the group.

Freedom Square intends to be a space where creation, imagination and personal development are the ideals that guide our standards. We hope to teach key life skills by encouraging the innovation of individuals, yet combining these qualities with the discipline required in training for the entertainment industry. The aspects covered will include interpretation, lightning, sound and musical creation, production, costume design, rigging, staging, etc.

We offer a space in Brixton where the community encounters and engages the arts. Ultimately we will form an Aerial Theatrics Company to devise and create a constantly evolving live show, that is self-directed and completely designed and developed by the participants. Young artists will be supported in their training and development by the company, we aim to offer an employment exchange to translate the skills learnt into the industry.

The project builds on In Fact´s previous experience in Spain, where we have already held workshops and seminars with teenagers who have similar situations and experiences as their Brixton counterparts. In the coming months we hope to be able to involve the community in this new venture at Brixton Recreation Center.

Currently, this project is in its early stage, focused on the search of a suitable place for its realization, and trying to obtain funds both the  public and sponsors.
